Historical Importance and Landmark of Ilocos Norte

Landmarks: There are lots of historical landmarks in Ilocos Norte but here are some of it.

Malacañang of The North-

During Ferdinand Marcos’ administration, this mansion served as the Marcos family’s official residence. And it is located at Paoay , Ilocos Norte. Today, It functions as a museum, tourists spot, and events place. Providing insights on the Marcos era and the presidency by exhibiting the way of life and artifacts of the family.

Juan Luna Shrine

The well-known Filipino painter Juan Luna, who was born in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, is honored in this shrine. Showcasing his personal artwork recognized his contributions to the Philipine art.

St. Monica Parish Church-

Another treasure is the St. Monica Parish Church located in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte. It is the largest Church in ilocos Norte and it was built in the 18th century and features a breathtaking Neo-Gothic architecture.

The Spanish Colonial Era-

The Birthplace of the Philippine President-

Born in Sarrat Ilocos Norte, Ferdinand E. Marcos, the country’s 10th President, is considered its most well-known historical figure. His contentious and nuanced legacy permanently altered Philippine history and elevated Ilocos Norte to the status of a centre for political research and discourse.

Rich Cultural Legacy- 

Ilocos Norte is well-known for its traditional crafts, food, and celebrations of Ilocano culture, such as the Pamulinawen Festival. The museums and heritage places in the area provide infromation on the Ilocano people’s historical development and indigenous roots.
